Investigational Drug Service (IDS)

The Investigational Drug Service (IDS), a research pharmacy operation at the University of Miami, supports clinical research trials, compassionate, and expanded-access drug use protocols. The IDS assists investigators at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Miami Health System, in conducting investigator-initiated studies as well as industry- and federally funded drug studies.

Services

The IDS offers a wide range of services related to the use of investigational medications in clinical trials.

Our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians coordinate pharmacy involvement in investigational/clinical medication studies approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Our staff members perform medication acquisition, inventory management, investigational medication distribution, accountability, and on-site destruction.

At IDS, we handle and dispense investigational medication supplies in accordance with applicable legal, institutional, professional, and sponsor requirements.
