American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is accredited by the Commission on Cancer (COC) as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program. This accreditation is a voluntary commitment that ensures patients will have access to the full scope of services required to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate and support patients with cancer. It is a recognition for the cancer program’s commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality, and multidisciplinary patient center care. The COC is dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care. UMHC/SCCC was re-accredited by the COC in 2017 noting seven commendations on the following standards; Clinical Research Accrual, Cancer Registrar Education, Public Reporting of Outcomes, College of American Pathologists, Protocols and Synoptic Reporting, Rapid Quality Reporting System Participation and Data Submission Accuracy.
