Is Sylvester owned by Jackson Memorial Hospital?
No, Sylvester is owned and operated by the University of Miami and is part of UHealth – University of Miami Health System. However, University of Miami physicians work closely with Jackson Memorial Hospital through a unique partnership. The Miami-Dade County Public Health Trust owns and operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, one of the nation’s busiest public hospitals. Jackson also serves as the teaching hospital for the private University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. This one-of-a-kind relationship means that patients at Jackson, even uninsured and underserved residents of Miami-Dade County, have access to the same top academic physicians who see patients at Sylvester.
