Bernard J. Fogel, M.D.
Board of GovernorsBernard J. Fogel, M.D., is dean emeritus of the University of Miami School of Medicine and a senior advisor to the University's president. He was senior vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School from 1981 to 1995, and in his current role as senior advisor, assists Dean Pascal Goldschmidt with government and donor relations as well as other issues surrounding the leadership of a complex school. Fogel is also the co-chair, School of Medicine, Momentum: the Campaign for the University of Miami.
Fogel is a past member of the Citizens Advisory Board to the Dade County Commissioners, the Governor’s Health Care Task Force, and the Community Hospital Education Council. In addition, he was a member of 12 other key Florida health care-related boards and organizations. Deeply committed to service in the community, Fogel also has served on a number of community service organizations, including We Will Rebuild and the United Way of Dade County Board of Trustees. Under Fogel’s leadership, the School of Medicine was awarded the first-ever Award for Outstanding Community Service from the Association of American Medical Colleges in recognition of the culture of compassion that has pervaded the school since its inception.
