John K. Schulte
Secretary, Board of GovernorsSince moving to Miami at the age of 12, John Schulte has been a part of the community in the truest sense. After graduating from the University of Miami in 1954, Schulte served as an officer in the U.S. Army and returned as public relations director of the Orange Bowl Festival for three years. He then launched what would become an illustrious public relations career as principal in Newman-Schulte-Reece and later Schulte Ross & Aguilar, serving an impressive roster of local, national, and international clients.
Schulte has been a member of the Sylvester Board of Governors for more than 10 years, and with his wife, Judy, a member of the Founder’s Society since 1997. He has served on numerous local and national boards including Citizens Federal Bank and the Society of American Travel Writers. He has held a number of leadership positions with key professional organizations. Schulte also serves as a member of the Sylvester Marketing Committee, Sylvester Executive and Finance Committee, and the Sylvester Performance Improvement Committee.
Schulte first became involved with Sylvester in the 1990s when the wife of a former business partner was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. A few years later, when his wife’s brother was treated at Sylvester, he was inspired to do more. Now retired and a private investor, Schulte feels fortunate to be in a position to make extraordinary contributions to what he and his wife feel is such an important cause. "My wife Judy and I strongly believe that people need to get involved and stay involved. We deeply believe in Sylvester and selected it for our personal involvement."
