Glen N. Barber, Ph.D., holds the Eugenia J. Dodson Chair in Cancer Research, is co-leader of the Viral Oncology Program, and associate director for Basic Research at UM/Sylvester, and professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.
Barber’s laboratory is focused on developing novel virus-based therapies for breast and other cancers and his research has contributed key insights into mechanisms of innate immunity to viral infection and malignant disease.
Barber joined UM in 1999, having served as an assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. He has played an important role in the development of graduate courses in his Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Miller School of Medicine. He is very well funded, has an impressive publication record, and has considerable experience in mentoring post-doctoral and post-MD fellows and graduate students.
