Shades of Pink Luncheon
Glamour and compassion joined forces at Cancer Link’s “SHADES OF PINK” Luncheon, held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Jungle Island. Emmy Award-winning TV journalist Cynthia Demos of CBS4 served as emcee for the luncheon, which was attended by 750 pink-wearing supporters.

Cancer Link’s guests were greeted by the Dade & Broward calendar firefighters who posed for pictures adorned in pink suspenders. The electricity and energy in the room continued, as our live auction took off with auctioneer Martin Clair, selling a 12 day Malaysian Cruise, donated by Crystal Cruises. Cancer Link’s signature silent auction featured more than 200 tempting items, and an elegant fashion show by Mayda Cisneros Couture Collection presenting the top fall fashion trends. Each guest received a lavish gift bag, courtesy of numerous donors and were serenaded with music by classical guitarist Alan Moore. A special Road to Recovery Fitness Challenge by sponsor Joe Mara, raised over $20,000 from pledges and donations then matched by BasePoint Capital and will be toped off to $50,000 by The Fairhome Foundation!
In the luncheon’s 28-year history, it has raised over $2 million for breast cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, which serves as the hub for cancer-related research, diagnosis, and treatment at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
