Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

Breast Cancer Survivorship Clinic

Breast cancer survivors comprise the largest group of cancer survivors in the United States. The Sylvester Breast Cancer Survivorship Program is dedicated to enhancing the length and quality of life of individuals with breast cancer who have completed active treatment. This survivorship program supplements your routine surveillance care provided by your breast oncologist.

The survivorship program provides expanded medical services to manage the following late and long term effects of cancer and its treatments:
• Fatigue
• Cognitive difficulties/poor concentration/memory loss
• Depression/anxiety/fear of recurrence
• Lymphedema/pain/decreased range of motion
• Sleep disturbance
• Menopausal symptoms
• Sexual dysfunction

The survivorship program promotes wellness and preventive health behaviors by providing the following specialized services tailored for breast cancer survivors:
• Nutritional counseling
• Physical activity assessment and fitness training
• Use of herbal therapy and dietary supplements
• Weight management
• Stress management strategies – Yoga, Tai Chi, mind-body therapies
• Massage therapy
• Acupuncture

What to Expect:
In your first visit, we will devote at least one hour to accomplish the following goals:

• Comprehensively identify and manage any side effects of cancer or treatment
• Develop and provide you with a treatment summary report
• Education and referrals as necessary to address health behaviors that reduce cancer risk such as diet and exercise (some available the same day as the initial visit)
