High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive, radiation-free outpatient procedure for the treatment of prostate cancer. HIFU’s robotic technology uses high-intensity ultrasound waves to precisely treat only the diseased part of the prostate – without damaging surrounding tissue. HIFU is generally recommended for patients with localized prostate cancer (stages T1-T2) who are not candidates for surgery or who prefer an alternative option, or for patients who failed radiation therapy treatment.

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is among the first medical centers in the United States to offer the HIFU prostate ablation tool.
