Outcomes - Prostate

These graphs represent the observed survival over a period of 5 years for patients treated at Sylvester, as compared to a national average reported in the National Cancer Data Base.

Source: Data from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Cancer Registry and the National Cancer Data Base. These graphs represent data from Sylvester’s prostate cancer patients first seen during calendar years 2005-2007 as compared with NCDB data using calendar years 2003-2006. These time periods were chosen because each represents the most recent data available to us.

Sylvester strives to be as transparent as possible in providing you with clear, accurate and up to date information. We compared our data to that reported by the National Cancer Data Base, which is a joint program of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and the American Cancer Society (ACS). The NCDB is a nationwide oncology outcomes database combining results reported by more than 1,500 Commission-accredited cancer programs in the United States.

Note: These survival rates take into account patients who died of any cause, not just those who died from their cancer. These survival rates are unadjusted and do not account for differences in patients’ ages, other medical conditions, or other factors that may affect survival.
