Throughout the year, Sylvester hosts a variety events aimed at both providing a fun and exciting night out for the South Florida community as well as raising funds for cancer research and care.
Designed for a Cure
Designed for a Cure is a powerful evening where science and fashion come together to celebrate cancer survival. The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will host its signature event next spring. The event will feature a fashion show with cancer survivors escorted by Sylvester doctors and clinicians, a silent auction, and restaurant tastings. Funds raised from this event benefit cancer research at Sylvester.
Sylvester’s 20th Anniversary Celebration Gala
Nearly six hundred party-goers streamed into the J.W. Marriott Marquis Miami and Hotel Beaux Arts in downtown Miami for the 20th Anniversary Gala Celebration of UHealth’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center on Saturday evening, December 8. The spectacular party was capped off by achieving a record-setting fundraising amount of more than $1.3 million.
WellBeingWell
The 2011 WellBeingWell Conference featured more than a dozen educational presentations on various health and wellness topics in order to educate the community about how to prevent, live with, and survive cancer. University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala, Ph.D., and integrative medicine expert Andrew Weil, M.D., were the keynote speakers at the conference on April 16, 2011.
