Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center/UMHC-University of Miami Hospital & Clinics.
Sylvester welcomes individuals, age 17 or older, to volunteer their time to help Sylvester’s patients, faculty, and staff. We are currently accepting volunteers for opportunities at Sylvester/UMHC in Miami, Sylvester at Deerfield Beach, and Sylvester at Kendall.
How to Apply
Individuals may volunteer a minimum of four hours a week for at least six consecutive months. Exceptions exist for students, who may volunteer for minimum of 40 hours per year. Volunteers may begin any time of the year. Our greatest needs exist Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Evening and weekend shifts are also available.
To apply for a volunteer position with Sylvester, all applicants must:
- Be at least 17 years old (Volunteers under the age of 18 must obtain a signed consent by a parent or guardian.)
- Complete the application form and submit to appropriate office. For Miami and Kendall volunteers, contact Margaret Suppa at 305-243-3663 or msuppa@miami.edu. For Deerfield Beach, contact Aysha Mathieu at 954-571-0148 or amathieu2@med.miami.edu.
- Pass a security background check
- Pass a tuberculosis screening (PPD or chest x-ray)
- Complete the Sylvester/UMHC Volunteer Orientation
