Dr. Takita's main clinical interests are in breast cancer patients. She is actively involved with the use of radiation in breast cancer treatments with conventional external beam radiation, IMRT and the newer techniques of Partial Breast Radiation (Mammosite, 3D Conformal RT). The national protocols for breast cancer patients are available through the cancer center. She is the Co-Leader of the Breast Site Disease Group at UM/
Dr. Takita's research interests include the use of radiation in partial breast treatment using Cyberknife, a new technology for delivering extremely precise and focus radiotherapy, the se of radiosensitizers with breast cancer treatment, and the new techniques of postmastectomy RT.
