Dr. Avisar is certified in Breast Ultrasound by the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Cancer surgery is the primary clinical interest for Dr. Avisar's. Specifically: Breast cancer, melanoma and sarcoma, esophageal, stomach, liver and pancreatic tumors.
Secondary interests include esopahgeal, stomach liver and pancreatic diseases.
Research Interests
Dr. Avisar's research interests include: sentinel node technology, intra-operative PET applications, breast cancer prevention and early detection, ablative therapies (photodynamic therapy, laser, cryotherapy and radiofrequency ablation), neo-adjuvant therapies for esophageal, liver, pancreas and breast cancers.

Biography
Eli Avisar, MD is fluent in English, French, Hebrew and Italian. He earned his undergraduate and medical degree from the Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical School in Israel. He completed his surgical residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and a surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Dr. Avisar is currently an associate professor of surgery in the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also serves as the medical director of the Taylor Breast Health Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and as co-leader of the breast site disease group at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
