Hong Jiang, MD, PhD, is a full-time faculty of the University of Miami. She has dual appointments as the assistant professor of ophthalmology, and neurology. As a neuro-ophthalmologist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various neuro-ophthalmologic disorders, including headaches, brain tumors or stroke affecting vision, optic neuritis, optic neuropathy, papilledema, ocular myasthenia gravis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, unexplained visual loss, diplopia, blepharospasm or hemifacial spasm. She treats chronic migraine headache, blephrospam or hemifacial spasm using botulinum toxin injections.
In the Department of Neurology, Dr. Jiang provides expertise in the evaluation and treatment of the various neurologic diseases such as memory disorders, headaches, spine disease, Multiple Sclerosis, neuropathies, dizziness and vertigo, vascular disease and neurologic complications of medical (systemic) diseases.
In her research, Dr. Jiang studies ocular manifestations of central nervous system diseases, especially ocular microvascular function in cerebral small vessel disease, multiple sclerosis and dementia.
Dr. Jiang is the member of North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS), American Academy of Neurology (AAN), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
