UM/Sylvester Welcomes Michael Gittelman
UM/Sylvester welcomes Michael Gittelman as the newly appointed administrator for University of Miami Specialty Hospitals, which include Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital (ABLEH) and University of Miami Hospital and Clinics (UMHC).
Gittelman has been administrator of ABLEH since 2004. He brings nearly 25 years of health care management experience to his new leadership role in which he will work closely with Michele Chulick, director of hospital operations and associate vice president for the UM health system, and with Carmen A. Puliafito, M.D., M.B.A., chair, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and W. Jarrard Goodwin, M.D., F.A.C.S., director, UM/Sylvester.
Prior to joining the University of Miami, Gittelman was with Tenet Healthcare Corporation where he served as CEO of Fair Oaks Hospital in Delray Beach, and CEO and COO of Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Since joining ABLEH, Gittelman has made significant contributions to the institution, especially in the areas of patient safety and the overall patient experience.
