Sarah Moody has supported her younger sister Claire through every stage of her cancer journey. Now, Moody is riding again in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) on Sunday, February 20, 2016, to raise funds for Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. “I have participated in the DCC for the last three years, cycling the 30-mile route,” says Moody.
As a lung cancer clinician and researcher at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Mohammad Jahanzeb, M.D., understands the importance of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge. “Survival rates for patients with advanced lung cancer have more than tripled in the past five years, thanks to new targeted strategies that go beyond traditional chemotherapy,” he says.
Lisa Siegel says cycling across the finish line at the Dolphins Cancer Challenge is an amazing feeling. “When I get off my bike, cancer patients and survivors come up and hug me with tears in their eyes, thanking us for our support. If you are a University employee, I urge you to help our community by raising funds for our Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and DCC with me!”
