New Clinical Trial for Liver Cancer Patients at Sylvester


A new clinical trial for hepatocellular cancer, the most common form of liver cancer in the U.S., was recently launched at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth – the University of Miami Health System. The Phase II trial, led by Sylvester liver cancer specialist Lynn G. Feun, M.D., seeks to enroll hepatocellular cancer patients who have advanced, unresectable disease.

Sylvester Researchers Develop Novel Disease Model to Study Multiple Myeloma


Researchers at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine have developed an animal model that allows them to better understand the mechanisms that lead to the development of multiple myeloma, a hematologic cancer of plasma cells, and the amyloidosis that sometimes accompanies it. The study was published in the journal Scientific Reports.

Adam E. Carlin Appointed Chair of Sylvester Board of Governors


Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth – the University of Miami Health System, has announced that Adam E. Carlin, Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Management Director at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Sylvester Board of Governors. Sylvester also announced five new Board members.

Teens from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Enjoy A Prom To Remember


Nine teens from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer recently had a chance to enjoy one of the highlights of adolescence — the prom. Leaving from alex’s place after makeup artists and stylists helped them get ready, the teens were transported by limo to the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale, where they were joined by other young oncology patients from the tri-county region.
