Sylvester researchers present findings and discuss latest trends at annual retreat
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center doctors, researchers, and caregivers came together on April 29 and 30 at the JW Marriott Miami on Brickell Avenue for the annual Sylvester retreat to present their latest research and discuss trends in NIH funding, viral oncology, cancer epigenetics, tumor biology, and cancer control, among others.
Day one of the retreat featured poster sessions where Sylvester scientists discussed the most promising cancer research. On day two, breakout sessions offered the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in cancer care and research, and to hear from the research program leaders about the progress they have made to date.
“In cancer research, high-hanging fruit is what we’re after, and that takes collaboration. We all need to work together to make life-saving progress,” said Sylvester Director Stephen D. Nimer, M.D, at the retreat. “There are so many exciting things happening at Sylvester – outstanding cancer care, exciting and impactful cancer research, and the most promising clinical trials that Sylvester patients have access to.”
