Conversations About Cancer

UM/Sylvester offers free educational classes for both patients and the general public focusing on cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Lectures are given by world-renowned physicians, scientists, and other health care professionals on a variety of topics including general cancer information, stress management, acupuncture, pain management, and the importance of good nutrition for cancer patients. A sample of recent classes includes:

• Ask the Doctor about Cancer and Radiation Therapy
• How to Successfully get Freedom from Smoking
• ABCDs of Skin Cancer
• What You Need to Know About Breast Cancer

The classes are free and are typically held at least three times a month during lunch (12-1 p.m.) at both the Miami and Deerfield Beach facilities. Late afternoon and evening presentations are offered periodically. Refreshments are provided.
