Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute

The multidisciplinary team of investigators and caregivers at the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute at UM/Sylvester conduct innovative research to advance knowledge of the causes of breast cancer and to develop new means of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

A diagnosis of breast cancer challenges the individual, the family and impacts our society. The Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute aims to eradicate this challenge by developing more effective breast cancer treatment, with the ultimate goal of curing the disease.

Our multidisciplinary clinical team is dedicated to improved diagnosis, treatment, and support of people affected by breast cancer. In addition to uniting a breast cancer care team at the cutting edge of clinical research, the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute is building programs in biobehavioral, epidemiology, genetics, molecular biology, and experimental therapeutic research related to breast cancer. More effective treatment, and ultimately, prevention of breast cancer will come from the integration of molecular mechanistic, experimental therapeutic, and population sciences research with clinical care.

Since its inception, the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute has initiated a breast cancer treatment and research program to care for a spectrum of patients from different parts of the world, occupations, and financial means. The Institute’s life-saving and life-enhancing work is bringing laboratory advances to the bedside, offering innovative new therapies and creating vital new options for people who entrust us with their care. In addition to providing access to the newest cancer drugs and latest technology, Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute patients have opportunities to enroll in the most advanced clinical trials, which make available a whole new realm of treatment options.

Currently, the Institute is the only academic research-based breast cancer facility in South Florida, serving more than one third of Florida's residents and providing international breast consultation services.
