Information Technology Resources

The Information Technology division offers the following technologies:

  • 13 network file and application servers
  • Microsoft SQL and MySQL database servers
  • Middleware and/or host applications: Adobe Coldfusion, JBOSS and JAVA
  • 48TB of storage space dedicated for center wide file and print sharing and collaborations
  • Over 800 client systems (desktops, notebooks & tablets) running XP, Vista, Win7 or Mac OS X

Client Systems

  • A total of 704 client systems (desktop and notebook) with 445 network users are managed by the group
  • Desktop specifications are either PC or Mac systems with latest processors, minimum of 2GB RAM, and a minimum of 160GB hard drives
  • All client PCs run Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Mac OS X and have standard applications installed
  • All client PCs are password protected; Client PCs are also configured with managed versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection for both antivirus and spyware protection
  • All network clients have access to WAN, internet and intranet, and access to network file shares for file sharing and collaboration
  • The Miller School of Medicine wireless network provides wireless users secure network access to all BBC network resources
